Stephanie Pierson is a Sacramento native whose work has been shown in galleries throughtout the Western United States. As a child, Stephanie spent countless hours patiently and meticulously cutting out paper dolls. This childhood obsession contributed greatly to the identity of the woman she has become, although now she employs sharper scissors and has a sharper critical eye. The innocent paper doll images of her childhood have been replaced by the sensual, slick, smooth visions found in the myriad of today’s glossy magazines. A single image presents itself to her and thus begins the inevitable search for its intuitive companions. This search is a kind of shuffling around of Stephanie’s subconscious. When the random imagery is reassembled, the result tells a new story.
